How to add a listing video to Zillow
A finished listing video does not guarantee a video player on Zillow. First identify how the property reaches Zillow: an agent or MLS feed, a listing you manage as the owner, or Zillow Showcase. Each has different controls. Confirm the route before ordering a video specifically for Zillow.
Start with the listing source
If an agent represents the property, ask the agent or broker which system supplies the listing. Claiming your home on Zillow does not establish that you can replace media supplied by that system. A flat-fee MLS listing still needs its MLS provider involved.
For a direct owner listing, use the Zillow account associated with that listing. Do not create a second advertisement to work around missing controls. Zillow's Listings Quality Policy says an agent-represented home cannot be advertised as For Sale by Owner.
Keep three things ready: the property address, the public Zillow listing URL and the final video or hosted tour URL. They make it easier for the listing provider to check the right record.
For an agent or MLS listing, check the tour field
Ask your MLS or listing provider which video or virtual-tour field is distributed to Zillow and which hosts it accepts. A local field being available does not prove Zillow will display its contents. Ask specifically about the destination, rather than simply whether the MLS accepts videos.
A practical submission sequence is:
- Prepare a property-specific video and an accessible tour page using a host your provider permits.
- Open the listing in the source system and find its approved video or virtual-tour URL field.
- Enter the link, save the change and confirm that distribution to Zillow is enabled.
- After the provider processes the update, inspect the public Zillow page for the tour and test playback.
For one concrete MLS example, SmartMLS's connectMLS instructions put the URL in a Tour URL field and save it. Those are that system's instructions, not a universal Zillow upload procedure.
Use an unbranded version where required. Zillow's general listing policy prohibits agent marketing information in video walkthroughs. Check the linked page as well as the video: contact banners, watermarks and end cards can undermine an otherwise clean export.
For a claimed owner listing, inspect the available controls
Sign into the account that manages the property and open its owner listing controls. Look for the media or tour options actually offered for that listing. If a video upload or tour field is present, follow the requirements shown there and save the submission.
Do not assume a photo uploader accepts an MP4. We did not find current public Zillow owner documentation establishing a video-file upload option for every claimed home or FSBO listing. Older screenshots showing an Add Video button are not evidence that your account has it today.
If the control is absent, contact Zillow support with the address and listing URL, and ask which video or tour route that listing supports. Zillow also says FSBO edits are reviewed before publication, so a saved edit is not proof of a live change.
Showcase has a separate documented video route
Zillow's Showcase editing guide describes provider delivery through Aryeo. The same photographer who supplied the other listing media must create the video. One video can display, with a maximum length of 120 seconds.
After delivery, the agent opens the listing editor, chooses Edit carousel media, selects Videos, selects the video, enables Show video in carousel and saves. The guide allows personal introductions but prohibits persistent agent or brokerage logos, watermarks and advertising. Do not assume a separately purchased photo reel meets the provider requirement; confirm eligibility first.
Verify the buyer's view
Open the public listing outside the editing session. Test any tour link on a phone, confirm it opens the correct property and check that the visible version matches your approved video. Record whether it appears as a link or carousel video. If it is missing, have the provider trace the exact field and delivery rather than repeatedly uploading copies.
Skip the editing
Upload your listing photos for a vertical reel and wide, unbranded cut, for your listing marketing. Check your listing platform's acceptance rules. Nothing added that isn't in your photos.
